In December 2021, our Montreal head office donated a total of C$71,728 to Centraide of Greater Montreal through our annual year-end fundraising campaign; including $25,000 contributed by the company. Additionally, during our recent head office relocation, Montreal employees had the opportunity to claim furniture that would not be needed in the new space, and were invited to donate to the United Way campaign.
Several Resolute facilities also contributed funds to local chapters of United Way in 2021, including United Way of Thunder Bay, which presented Resolute with a diamond award (corporate leader) for participating in the Relaunch 2020 campaign in Northwestern Ontario.
Resolute is a longtime supporter of United Way. For example, as the COVID-19 pandemic first swept the globe in March 2020, Resolute quickly mobilized to dispatch our planned contributions for the year and provide immediate relief to organizations overwhelmed by increased demand, such as food banks, children’s and seniors’ aid groups, first responders and hospital foundations. Many of our operations followed suit, and including our corporate donation of $42,000 to United Way Centraide Canada’s COVID-19 community response funds, the company contributed $270,000 towards COVID-19 response initiatives in 2020.
United Way’s mission is to collect and invest funds locally to fight poverty and social exclusion. The organization supports a network of community agencies and effective, unifying collective projects. Over 5,000 Canadian communities receive support from United Way through more than 6,000 programs.
