Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there is a sense of stress and concern weighing on everyone. We are mindful of the challenges our employees, business partners and communities may be facing as we navigate this difficult situation together.
Community organizations are working overtime to support vulnerable populations. In order to quickly deploy resources where they are most needed, Resolute is donating $40,000 to United Way Centraide Canada’s COVID-19 community response funds. This donation will contribute to targeted community needs during this unprecedented situation.
We have encouraged our operations across the company to review their planned contributions for the year, and to identify opportunities to contribute to community organizations in critical need of immediate relief. That call to action was promptly answered with commitments of financial as well as in-kind donations, tripling Resolute’s support for those in need.
Resolute facilities in Quebec regions such as Côte-Nord, Charlevoix and Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean, as well as in Northwestern Ontario and Alabama, have already stepped forward with financial commitments. In addition, our Thunder Bay (Ontario) pulp and paper mill donated 500 P95 masks to the city’s emergency services team, and is in regular contact with them, as well as local hospitals, to further assist in any way possible. Our Sanford (Florida) tissue facility distributed over 100 cases of bath tissue to local organizations. We are confident that these contributions will inspire others to follow suit in the coming days and weeks.
Many Resolute employees are personally reaching out to those affected by the pandemic. They are supporting family and friends, checking in on neighbors, and even making personal financial donations, while practicing social distancing at all times. We applaud these acts of generosity, and commend our employees for their continued commitment to health and safety as they respect the guidelines and measures implemented by government authorities.
