We’re proud of the many ways we support our operating communities – from funding worthy initiatives to volunteering our time and energy.
Here are some highlights of our community involvement in the second quarter of 2024!
Playing an active role
Twenty employees from our Alma (Quebec) paper mill took part in a dragon boat race, raising $7,550 for the Fondation de l’Hôtel-Dieu d’Alma hospital foundation, while the team at our Coosa Pines (Alabama) pulp mill raised $43,000 for the Children’s Hospital Intervention and Prevention Services (CHIPS) Center of the Children’s Hospital of Alabama during the Alabama Forestry Association’s annual Log a Load for Kids golf tournament. A delegation of 16 employees from our Lac-Saint-Jean (Quebec) wood products operations and Montreal office raised $101,889 in the annual Leucan Ultramarathon to fund clinical research and resources for young cancer patients and their families, and a group from our La Doré (Quebec) wood products facilities organized a basketball tournament for international workers.
Investing in our future
Our Côte-Nord (Quebec) woodlands operations donated $1,500 in scholarships for forestry-related studies. Our Grenada (Mississippi) paper mill gave $1,000 each to the Boys & Girls Club of the Mississippi Delta and 100 Black Men of America, organizations dedicated to providing mentorship and educational support to youth in need. Students from the Innu community of Mashteuiatsh toured the Saint-Prime (Quebec) engineered wood products facility, getting a sneak peek at rewarding career possibilities. And our Gatineau (Quebec) paper mill provided a sponsorship of $5,750 to Forces Avenir in recognition of dedicated high school personnel’s efforts.
Uplifting communities
Our Menominee (Michigan) pulp mill donated $500 to support the Marinette Youth Baseball league, the Clermont (Quebec) paper mill contributed $500 to a local residence for senior citizens, and our operations in Dolbeau-Mistassini (Quebec) sponsored an event benefiting local single-parent and blended families. The Normandin (Quebec) planer mill was an official partner of the Zanimés theater troupe, contributing $4,720 to its annual family event.
We salute all those making a difference in their communities!
