Employees at our Coosa Pines (Alabama) pulp mill have a long history of supporting youth in their community. Each year since 1994, the mill has hosted the Log-a-Load golf tournament to raise funds for the Children’s Hospital Intervention and Prevention Services (CHIPS) at Children’s of Alabama , an outpatient center promoting health and healing for children who have experienced abuse or neglect. This year marked the event’s 25th anniversary, bringing the amount donated over the years to an impressive $500,000! A total of 146 golfers took part in the tournament.
“Thank God there are people out there willing to take care of these kids. We’re happy to contribute what we can toward their efforts,” said Pat Hogg, general manager at Coosa Pines. “We’re grateful for any opportunity we have to help out our local communities.”
The tournament took place at Greystone Golf & Country Club in nearby Birmingham. Pat says the setting helped draw participants, as most local people don’t often get a chance to play at a private country club as beautiful as Greystone. He added that the relationship between the mill and Children’s of Alabama “is of great value to the company and the community“.
Kudos to the employees and management at Coosa Pines for engaging with their community and supporting children!
