Resolute’s Thunder Bay (Ontario) and Saint-Félicien (Quebec) mills have taken top honors on Pulp & Paper Canada’s list of the Safest Mills in Canada for 2018. Since 1926, Pulp & Paper Canada has recognized Canadian mills that have achieved an outstanding safety record, with the mill with the lowest total recordable incident rate (mill frequency) in each category named the winner of that class for the year.
Our Thunder Bay pulp and paper mill placed first in Category B, which includes facilities totaling 50,000 to 80,000 worker hours per month. In Category C, which includes facilities totaling less than 50,000 worker hours per month, our Saint-Félicien pulp mill earned first place. Our Alma (Quebec) mill earned second place in Category B, while our Clermont and Gatineau mills, also located in Quebec, ranked in the top seven mills in Category C.
Every employee plays a role in identifying potential safety hazards and creating an injury-free workplace. We are proud of our proactive approach to workplace safety and our commitment to continuous improvement, and we are grateful that our efforts are being recognized.
Congratulations to our employees at all of the mills recognized among Pulp & Paper Canada’s 2018 Safest Mills in Canada!
