On April 16, Resolute’s Hialeah (Florida) tissue mill hosted U.S. Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart for a meeting and tour of the facility. Congressman Diaz-Balart is serving his ninth term and represents the 25th district of Florida, which includes Hialeah. He sits on the powerful House Committee on Appropriations, which is responsible for funding the federal government’s vital activities: create jobs, grow the economy, keep the country safe and secure, and build for the future.
Before the tour, the Congressman met with the mill’s management team to learn about the operation and the products manufactured there, and to discuss a variety of issues and opportunities for the mill. Participants included Carlos Rodas, Converting Operations manager, Anthony Figueroa, Procurement and Purchasing manager, Maria Annuiti, Human Resources manager, Rolando Perez, Environmental, Health & Safety manager and Juan Casillas, Product Management, Quality and Marketing director.
The Hialeah team began the meeting by sharing their safety record – an impressive 750,000 safe work hours and more than 485 safe work days! Ms. Annuiti provided an overview of Resolute’s three Florida operations for the Congressman and emphasized the cultural diversity of Hialeah’s 200 employees.
Following the meeting, Congressman Diaz-Balart toured the operation and had the opportunity to meet and visit with many of the employees. “I think the Congressman could see the pride we have in our jobs when touring the facility and seeing the commitment and engagement of the employees,” said Maria Annuiti. The Congressman later posted about his visit on his Facebook page, saying: “I am proud to have such an incredible company in my district and in the United States.”
Thank you, Congressman Diaz-Balart, for taking the time to visit us!
