Employees at Resolute’s Augusta newsprint mill chose the Children’s Hospital of Georgia as their charity of choice back in 1994, donating thousands of dollars each year to support the hospital and its various programs.
This year’s contribution of $26,507 brings the grand total to $645,000 donated over 25 years. The partnership with Resolute is one of the longest-running in the hospital’s history. Funds are generated in several ways: generous personal donations from mill employees, the mill’s contribution program, or our company-wide Board of Directors Safety Award Program, through which Resolute operations can earn $5,000 and more to add to their community donations for every 250,000 hours worked without a recordable injury. In 2018, Augusta employees achieved 750,000 hours injury-free, allowing them to donate $15,000 to the hospital this year alone.
The Children’s Hospital of Georgia has 154 beds and is the second-largest children’s hospital in Georgia. The hospital provides high-level pediatric and neonatal intensive care, a 24/7 pediatric emergency department, pediatric cancer care, heart and neurological care, and a wide range of general and complex health care for children. It was recently ranked as the nation’s highest performing hospital in pediatric quality and safety out of 130 of the top academic health centers.
Kudos to our employees at Augusta for their dedication to the Children’s Hospital of Georgia!
