Thunder Bay Mill Earns High Marks for Safety

Our Thunder Bay (Ontario) pulp and paper mill has received a Workplace Excellence Award from Workplace Safety North, an independent not-for-profit that provides province-wide ministry-approved workplace health and safety training and services for the mining and forest products industries, as well as for businesses. The awards are presented to member companies that promote a strong safety culture through their ongoing commitment to preventing illness and injury, and to continuous improvement.

“Safety is a top priority for all of us,” said David Berry, the mill’s Human Resources manager. “Receiving a Workplace Safety Award helps demonstrate that safety is a top priority for our customers, our stakeholders and most importantly, our employees.”

At Resolute, safety is a core value, linked to every part of the company’s business. We always put the safety of our people first and maintain world-class standards to continuously measure and improve it. Our progress is part of our long-term goal of zero incidents across our operations.

“Congratulations to all winners for your dedication to health and safety,” said Paul Andre, president and chief executive officer of Workplace Safety North. “Workplace Safety North is honoured to recognize the time and effort that goes into ensuring workers’ well-being, and creating and maintaining a healthy and safe workplace – well done!”
