Gender Equality Week: Chat with a Quality Control and Optimization Supervisor

Becky is a quality control and optimization supervisor at Resolute’s Thunder Bay (Ontario) sawmill. She began working in quality control over three years ago and was promoted to her current role last year. “I like the fast-moving and challenging environment of the forest products industry. I come across different situations every day, so I don’t get bored with the work,” explains Becky. “When it comes to work-life balance, which is a key aspect of achieving a diverse workplace, my personal mantra is ‘work hard, play hard’. I focus on working during work time and try to enjoy life while I’m off.”

Becky has some words of advice for other women seeking a career in forestry: “Your efforts will be well-rewarded. I find that the forest products industry shows respect to female employees. A career in forestry can be interesting and rewarding at the same time.”
