Resolute and employees at our Kénogami (Quebec) mill are being recognized once again for our award-winning safety performance and innovative spirit.

On February 16th, we received the Safety Leadership Award from the Pulp and Paper and Technical Association of Canada (PAPTAC) during the industry’s 2017 conference, PaperWeek Canada, held in Montréal (Quebec).

The award recognizes the mill’s efforts to continuously improve its safety performance and perpetuate a safety culture in the workplace.  It also highlights the mill’s development of an innovative protective chemical safety suit – now being adopted by others in the industry – which is safer, eco-friendly and more comfortable to wear.

Resolute has received several other awards for the development of this innovative suit in recognition of the greater protection it provides against both heat and chemicals, its comfort and breathability, and for the dramatically higher quality of work environment it provides, which helps to reduce worker fatigue. Some examples include:

  • The Association pour le développement de la recherche et de l’innovation du Québec (ADRIQ) Innovation Prize, Health and Safety in the Workplace
  • The American Forest and Paper Association (AF&PA) Leadership in Sustainability Award for Safety;
  • The International Business Awards (IBAs) gold Stevie® for Health Safety and Environment program of the year in the U.S. and Canada; and
  • RISI’s Pulp and Paper International (PPI) Award for Managing RiskThe PAPTAC’s Safety Leadership Award is a highly coveted honor, won by Resolute in 2014 by our Saint-Félicien (Quebec) mill.
