Although raising awareness about the importance of all types of forests, including the sustainably managed Canadian boreal, is one of our favorite activities here at Resolute – we think this work should be a priority every day, not just once a year!
2013 marked the first ever United Nations (U.N.) sponsored celebration for the International Day of Forests, created in order to encourage countries to undertake local, national and international efforts to organize activities involving forests and trees, such as tree planting campaigns.
Other partners, like the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), are also joining this exceptional cause – producing informative videos on the potential of sustainably managed forests to mitigate climate change and sharing information on tree planting events scheduled around the world.
We are proud to be supporting sustainable forests each and every day, from greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reductions achievements to ensuring that 100% of the woodlands we manage are certified to at least one internationally recognized third-party standard – Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®), Sustainable Forestry Initiative® (SFI®) and CSA Group (CSA).
We hope you’ll share the importance of forestry today and continue to enjoy all the benefits that trees provide.
