Resolute and our employees were honored for developing a safer, more comfortable and eco-friendly chemical protective suit.
The award for developing the most innovative health and safety product was presented to Resolute Forest Products at the 26th annual ADRIQ Innovation Awards Gala. The awards celebration, held on November 24th in Montréal, is the main recognition event for Quebec innovators. ADRIQ noted the innovative suit provides greater protection against both heat and chemicals, while its comfort and breathability provides a dramatically higher quality of work environment and reduces worker fatigue significantly.
Employees at our Kénogami (Quebec) and Calhoun (Tennessee) mills found the standard disposable suits both uncomfortable and hot, and wanted to develop a suit that could be worn for longer than 15 minutes at a time.
It wasn’t long before a supplier came on board to help them design a safer, watertight, more comfortable, breathable suit – one that was easy to put on and take off while wearing boots; had longer sleeves to protect outstretched arms; with added pockets for pens and radios; and, with a list on the front pocket of every suit of the chemicals against which the suit protects. The new suits are also suitable for a range of situations, avoiding the possibility of an employee picking the wrong suit for a given task.
